Josh Shields

Josh Shields is originally from Starkville Mississippi. Before graduating from Starkville High School he played club soccer with Central Jackson Soccer Organization out of Jackson Mississippi. The ’88 team that he was a part of won 4 back-to-back state cups in MS.
Coach Shields begin his collegiate career playing East Mississippi Community College, where he was a two-time All-State player.
After two seasons at EMCC coach Shields joined the University of Mobile’s soccer program. In his two seasons at UM Coach Shields was a part of a successful Mobile team that won two consecutive conference championships during his two years with the program. As a junior Coach Shields helped lead his team to a NAIA final four tournament appearance in 2010. As a senior, Coach Shields helped the program maintain the number ranking as the top team in the nation for most of the season as a part of a back line that only allowed 5 goals during the regular season before getting upset in the round of 16 of the National Tournament.
Josh gained semi-professional experience while playing NPSL for Chattanooga FC in 2011 and the Mississippi Storm during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Josh previously coached with Blast FC in Fairhope Alabama and he currently hold a USSF E Coaching License.

   


   
   
       
           
               

Angel Ibanez

Angel Ignacio Ibanez is originally from Veracruz, Mexico.

He started off playing with Kicks FC at the age of U7. He was always on the first division team, soon after he left kicks to join Rusty Campbell and Mike Latty at United Soccer Club.He played there till U19 where he became part of the first team to win State for United Soccer club and went off to play Regionals. He played Varsity at Huntsville High.
This past fall he became assistant coach to former A.S Rome Goalkeeper, Julio Sergio. Soon after he took on the roll of head coach of the U17 Elite and U19 Elite boys at United Soccer Club. He lead his U17 boys to an undefeated season and took second place in State Cup.

   
       
   
   
       
           
               

Greg Arndt

Coach Arndt has been with the Grissom soccer program since 1984. While he leaves the technical coaching to the head coach, he takes care of everything else, including physical training, scheduling, player stats, and keeping O'Halloran Field in good shape. 

He rounds up teams from as far away as Utah to play in the Southern Soccer Challenge as well as scheduling competitive varsity and JV matches in Tennessee and Georgia. The Grissom Soccer Program would never be where it is today without the selfless years of commitment of Coach Arndt.

   

   
       
   
   
       
           
               

Doug Bailey

                Goalkeeper Coach           
       
       

Doug Bailey is originally from Marlborough Massachusetts where he played goalkeeper at Marlborough High School and Marlborough International Soccer Club.  Upon graduating from Marlborough High School, he went on to Brown University where he played on the B squad and later coached the B squad.  While at Brown, he served on the staff of the US Soccer camp run by coach Cliff Stevenson.

Upon moving to Huntsville, Doug played for a number of teams in the Huntsville Adult Soccer League (HASL). Doug has over 30 years experience playing the goalkeeper position.  He has been coaching goalkeepers at Grissom for over 10 years. 

A fan of Barcelona, Doug looks forward to seeing his goalkeepers actively involved in building play from the back.
