Grissom 2, Hardin Valley Academy 1; Tigers win first game of Smokey Mountain Cup
Grissom defeated the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks from Knox County 2-1 in the first game of the Smokey Mountain Cup in Gatlinburg, TN. The tight, turf field limited Grissom's speed, but the Tigers were able to outshoot the Hawks 24-5. Aiden Cleary scored in the 10th minute of the first half, assisted by James Balogun. The Hawks tied it ten minutes later when a header deflected off a Hawk player. Grissom players argued for offsides but to no avail. Grissom regained the lead 7 minutes into the second half. Ben Smith struck the cross bar off of a free kick, and Josh Lowe scored the rebound. Grissom withstood a late charge to preserve the win.
