Grissom 2, Pope John Paul II 1: Falcon Prayers Unanswered in Close Contest
Grissom defeated the visiting JP II Falcons 2-1 Tuesday night. Grissom started strong and watched an early shot bounce into the net only to see the AR's flag. Despite the Grissom pressure, the Falcons took the lead in the 22nd minute. Two Falcon players found themselves forward of the Grissom defense and were able to pass the ball past goalie Kai Snodgrass, narrowly avoiding the offside call. Ben Smith scored the equalizer in the 49th minute off an Aidan Cleary cross. Fin Bjelke completed the scoring ten minutes later when Smith redirected a Lucas Farmer shot off the goalie to the waiting Englishman. Grissom outshot the Falcons 26-6. Grissom had 6 corners, and JP II had none. Kai Snodgrass had 3 saves in goal for Grissom.
