Grissom 2, Ravenwood 2; Tired Tigers tie Raptors

Grissom completed their third game in 26 hours and finished 2-0-1 at the Smokey Mountain Cup.  With four minutes to go, the Grissom faithful were disappointed in what was most assuredly their third defeat.  As the horn sounded, they were disappointed they hadn't pulled out an exciting win.

James Balogun scored in the fifth minute, but Ravenwood controlled possession for most of the first half.  The Raptors evened the score after a Grissom hand ball in the box in the 28th minute.  The score remained tied until the 20th minute of the second half.  Another hand ball yielded a Raptor free kick from 25 yards, and they rocketed the ball into the upper third of the Grissom goal. The outcome looked settled until Jordan Eutsey lofted the ball over the Raptor goalie from 30 yards out with 4 minutes remaining.  Grissom then had two excellent opportunities to take the lead in the final three minutes.  Finn Bjelke's shot from the 18 looked in, but went just over the cross bar.  With a minute remaining, Kevin Dong passed to the charging James Balogun whose shot found the back of the Raptor net. The celebration ended when the linesman confidently raised the flag, and the game ended tied at 2.

Ravenwood (1-0-1) will play Mt Juliet on Sunday to determine the Pool Champion.  Tie breakers include goal differential, goals scored, and goals allowed.
