Grissom Takes Two at Smokey Mountain Cup

Grissom finished 2-1 at the Smokey Mountain Cup on 16 and 17 March. Grissom beat Knoxville West 2-1 in the Friday night opener. Aidan Cleary and Lucas Farmer had goals for Grissom. Grissom lost to Memphis' Lausanne Collegiate High School 3-2 Saturday morning. Lausanne won the Tennessee Division II State Championship in 2017 and took the lead against Grissom at the 14:40 mark in the first half. The half ended with Grissom down 1-0. Twenty one minutes into the second half, Lucas Farmer's free kick found Fin Bjelke's head for the tying score (and Bjelke back flip). Lucas and Fin combined again five minutes later to produce a 2-1 Tiger lead; however, a late Lausanne surge produced two goals in the final ten minutes to secure the win. Later that day, Grissom beat Smyrna 2-1. Andrew Burns scored his first goal of the season on a 25 yard strike, and Aidan Cleary added the winning goal eighteen minutes into the second half. Grissom put the ball in the net two other times, but each celebration was muted by alleged infractions.
