Huntsville 1, Grissom 0; Panthers slip by Tigers
Huntsville defeated Grissom 1-0 at Grissom High School on 22 April to win the Area Championship. The Tigers started strong with several early opportunities that could have easily breached the Panther goal. Ten minutes into the first half, however, the momentum turned, and Huntsville appeared the stronger side for the remainder of the contest. For the game, Huntsville took 13 shots with 11 on goal and had 7 corners compared to Grissom's 9 shots with 2 on goal, and 3 corners. The deciding goal came with 9 minutes left in the contest. Two Grissom defenders slipped leaving an open goal for the Huntsville Striker. Though Grissom showed life in the final minutes, they could not earn the equalizer. The loss leaves both Grissom and Huntsville with 5-1 records atop Area 7. Huntsville earns the top seed having the better goal differential and hosts Bob Jones on Tuesday, 30 April. Grissom travels to Florence to meet the Area 8 Champion Falcons.
