On Monday, Feb. 22 the Tigers traveled across the city to take on the Jets of James Clemens. This is the first time the Tigers have played at James Clemens on the Jets' new turf fields.
As the sun went down so did the temperature as kick off approached for the varsity boys. After a few smooth attacking combinations the Tiger opened the scoring after 7 minutes of play with the games first goal. Jorge Torres' corner was firmed headed into the back of the net by Tahir Laury to put the Tigers up 1-0. After a lost of possession followed by a foul against Grissom the Jets quickly responded with a set piece goal to equalized.
Seven minutes later the Tiger go up again after Joey Moore confidently finished a rebound from the top of the box into the bottom corner. James Clemens responded with another equalizer before the end of the first half to send both teams equal at 2-2 going into the half.
After some enthusiastic words from Coach Shields, the Tigers started the second half strong an after the 7th minute mark Grissom earned a free kick from about 25 yds out. Logas Gaddis scored the eventual game winner from his free kick that goes around the wall and in side corner of the net.
The Tigers followed up Logan's terrific free kick goal with unanswered goals from Jorge Torres and Logan (assisted by Jorge) to take a 5-2 lead and put the game to bed.
In the opening game of the night the JV boys defeated James Clemens JV 3-0 with first half goals from Noah Amesbury & Noah Kunze. Wesley Heigl scored at late 2nd have goal to seal the deal.
The Varsity & JV boys will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 23 @ Buckhorn.
